Rebuilding a Site

When you create a site, TopStyle builds a database of all files in the site along with all style sheets linked within those files. Over time this database may become out-of-date as you use other programs to update these files. For this reason, it's important to rebuild your site to make sure it's current.

To rebuild the active site, click the toolbutton shown to the left. You will be presented with three options:

• Update Rebuild - scans for any files within the site that have been modified. This is very fast, and is normally all you need to do unless you deleted or renamed any files in the site, or if you created new documents that should be added to the site.
• Quick Rebuild - in addition to checking for modified files, the quick rebuild also removes deleted documents and adds new documents to your site.
• Complete Rebuild - rebuilds your site from scratch, as though you're creating a brand new site.

If you originally imported the site from a HomeSite project, after choosing a complete rebuild you'll be prompted whether to rebuild the site from the HomeSite project (reflecting any changes to the HomeSite project since the site was imported) or to build it from the project's root folder, which will disassociate the site from the HomeSite project. Note that rebuilding an site using the "Update Rebuild" or "Quick Rebuild" options will always rebuild imported sites based on the project's root folder, so you should choose "Complete Rebuild" if you want to make sure your TopStyle site is in sync with your HomeSite project.

If you regularly make changes to the documents in your site, you might find it helpful to tell TopStyle to automatically perform an update rebuild every time it opens a site. This way, you don't have to worry about rebuilding the site - TopStyle will do it for you. To turn this feature on, go to the General page in TopStyle's Options.
